1. How is the IIS affiliated with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN)?
2. How can one participate in the programmes of the IIS?
Some of the programmatic initiatives of the IIS are specifically designed to address the educational or human-resource development needs within the world-wide Ismaili community. Apart from those programmes, the activities and output of the IIS (public seminars, research scholarships, fellowships, publications, etc.) are accessible to all those who are interested in areas related to the Institute's research interests.
3. How can books published by the IIS be acquired?
Publications of the IIS may be acquired by contacting the relevant publishers. The bulk of the Institute's academic publications may be obtained through I.B. Tauris and Cambridge University Press. Their full names and addresses are as follows:

4. What is the makeup of the IIS faculty?
The IIS faculty comprises scholars from various traditions, cultures, nationalities and religious persuasions. Intellectual excellence and a background in relevant scholarship are the main criteria for appointment.
5. Does the IIS provide academic support for research on themes related to Ismaili studies?
The IIS offers a limited number of Research Fellowships each year. For further information on these please view relevant pages on this website under Research and Publications. In addition, the Institute also offers limited support, both academic and financial, to some graduate and postgraduate students whose area of research is closely connected with the Institute’s research interests. Students planning to enter fields of interest to the IIS are encouraged to get in touch with the Institute early on in their research programme. 6. Is the IIS a degree-awarding institution?
The IIS is a research institute and does not at present award any academic degrees of its own. However, the Institute does collaborate with a number of reputed institutions of higher learning in the United Kingdom in offering graduate-level academic programmes. Upon completion of requisite courses and fulfilment of other university requirements, students receive academic credentials from these universities.
7. Does the IIS offer any correspondence courses?
No. The IIS does not at present offer any correspondence courses.
