Field Trips

STEP students in Spain The Secondary Teacher Education Programme features two compulsory educational field trips, which take place during the first academic year of the programme.
Al-Azhar courtyard, Cairo The aim of the field trips is for students to obtain a first-hand understanding of the two great cities of Islamic civilisations: Cairo, Egypt, and Cordoba, Spain, both of which feature in the IIS’ Secondary Curriculum.

Students have been very positive about the field trips:

“Learning about our past is extremely important as it helps us to build a better future. Visiting Cairo helped me understand what the past meant more clearly as it allowed me to imagine how people lived and worked together to form a community in the past.”

Laila Allahwala, STEP class of 2010

“Both educational excursions guided us in an exploration of our heart and mind, and helped in our development as teachers. For this reason, Spain and Egypt will always hold a special place in our hearts.”

Saba Ebrahim, STEP class of 2009

An Outdoor Class STEP Students in Andalusia, Spain Educational tour at Ibn Tulun Mosque, Cairo, Egypt
