As the STEP International Liaison Officer, Mr Mithani will liaise between the IIS and the STEP Academic Directors based in five countries and with the ITREBs engaged in the various phases of STEP Expansion. His responsibilities will include setting up structures and processes of communication between the IIS and the STEP Academic Directors for the effective deployment of STEP graduates and implementation of the IIS curriculum.
Mr Mithani has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Southampton and is a certified Secondary School Teacher in Modern Foreign Languages. His thesis focused on Co-Educational schooling and the impact of gender in the creation of a successful learning environment. Prior to the MPGCE, he earned a BA Honours degree in Modern Languages from the University of Southampton.
From 2005 to 2006, Mr Mithani worked as a teacher in the UK before accepting a European Project Management role with an engineering firm. In 2009, he reverted to the field of education, and served at the Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) as an Educational Consultant for English Language Programmes in Madagascar.
Mr Mithani has also undertaken a number of voluntary roles within the Ismaili Community, notably working as the Director of the Al-Ummah Europe Programme (a European Ismaili Youth Residential Programme for 15-18 year olds) in 2009. In addition, he was a Curriculum Developer for the Pathways Youth Programme in 2010. He is currently Vice-Chairman of the Ismaili Tariqah and Religious Education Board’s (ITREB) Europe Committee.
