Maria are leading forward the current and future strategic implementation for the IIS digital products and services, strengthening the institute's digital reputation and presence.
Since January 2022 she is acting as Head of Communications and Development for the Department of Communications and Development. In this role she is responsible for leading internal and external communications strategy, and stakeholder engagement including the management of donor relations.
As a Digital Manager she undertook key digital redesign and development projects (i.e. the IIS Website redevelopment and integrations, a new Contact Relationship Marketing database, a new departmental Asset Bank) and is responsible of the departmental digital strategy development and delivery. Maria embedded innovation process and workflow to improve delivery teams performance while advising on a number of IIS digital projects (i.e. AXIELL database, Kataboo platform).
In addition, Maria is a member of the IIS Digital Working Group focusing on digital transformation and change management. She also successfully created and delivered internal staff digital upskilling process with quarterly training sessions focused on Kanban/Agile methodologies, SEO and SEM, and project management via digital tools (Trello, notion.so).
Relevant previous experience
Maria developed her successful career into digital management with projects from community engagement and content strategy to production planning and platforms development.
She participated and led strategic, forward-thinking digital initiatives, with over eighteen years working across corporate, academic and charity organisations such as Google, Kaplan International, the Bank Workers Charity, Garden Organic, Hostelbookers, the European Association of Dance Historians, Birds&Birds, Università' “GdA’ di Chieti-Pescara (Italy).
Maria comes from a strong academic background as a Researcher in Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies with an international award-winning PhD thesis on the Slavomolisano dialect.
During the academic tenure, she also held a Professorship in ‘Applied Informatics for Arts and Humanities’ and worked as an Italian Lecturer and a Senior Coordinator Researcher for digital pilot projects on Minority Languages education for the Italian Ministry of Education and University (MIUR) and educational regional agencies (IRRE).
