Karim K Janmohamed received BA Honours from the University of East Africa and MA and PhD in History from Northwestern University, USA. He has been a Senior Lecturer at the University of Nairobi, Kenya, an Associate Professor in St Lawrence University's Kenya Programme, as well as a consultant to several Scandinavian development agencies for their training programmes. He was the co-editor of Kenya Historical Review for ten years. He has also served as a member of the Aga Khan Foundation, Kenya and as Secretary-General of the Historical Association of Kenya. In 1981 he received a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship and gave lectures at several American universities. More recently, Dr Janmohamed collaborated with K K Aziz in preparing the two-volume collection, Aga Khan III: Selected Speeches and Writings, 1902-1955. He was the Head of the IIS-ITREB Liaison Department at the IIS from 1996 to 2003.
