Dr. Mike Diboll
STEP Programme Leader


Dr. Mike Diboll brings to the role of Programme Leader of STEP three interconnecting sets of skills and experience: scholarship in the Humanities and Social Sciences of the modern Muslim world; education and higher education development work in the Middle East; and working with overseas students’ academic and study skills development. He holds a first class Honours degree in Arabic, an MA in Anthropology, a PhD in Comparative Cultural Studies, and a portfolio of Masters level education qualifications gained between 1992 and 2014.

He was involved in the 2008 start-up of Bahrain Teachers’ College where he was Academic Head of Continuing Professional Development, is a Visiting Research Associate at the Centre for Research and Evaluation in Muslim Education at the UCL Institute of Education, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
