Zauhar A. Meghji was born in Tanzania where he attended the Aga Khan Boys Primary and Secondary Schools. He came to the United Kingdom in 1968 where he continued his education, reading Chemical Engineering at the University of Cambridge. He subsequently went on to obtain a Master's degree in Computer Science from Imperial College of Science and Technology in London. Mr Meghji is a semi-retired businessman with over thirty years’ experience in health care.. He has served in an honorary capacity in numerous institutions over the years. These include roles as President of the Ismaili Council for the United Kingdom, Vice-Chairman of the Aga Khan Foundation (UK), Member of Education on the Ismaili Council for the United Kingdom, Honorary Secretary of the Ismaili Tariqah and Religious Education Board for the United Kingdom, and as member on the Board of Counsel and Care for the Elderly. He has been a member of the Board of Governors of The IIS since 1995.
