Prof. Roy Mottahedeh


Roy Mottahedeh is Gurney Professor of History and Chair of the Committee on Islamic Studies at the Centre for Middle Eastern Studies, Harvard University. Professor Mottahedeh has published widely in the field of Islamic history and thought and is the recipient of numerous awards including the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship. Among his publications are Loyalty and Leadership in Early Islamic Society (Princeton University Press, 1980) and The Mantle of the Prophet: Religion and Politics in Iran (Penguin, 1987).
