To mark this year’s International Education Day, with its theme “Recover and Revitalise Education for the COVID-19 Generation”, students, teachers and programme staff at the IIS’s Department of Graduate Studies reveal how the Institute’s programmes have responded to the pandemic.
Third-year students on the Graduate Programme in Islamic Studies and Humanities (GPISH) have presented their field research papers to an audience of academics, students and staff.
In many ways, the latest instalment in the World of Islam series by Stephen Burge, The Prophet Muhammad: Islam and the Divine Message, is about the idea of change. As the book points out, change is at the heart of a prophet’s mission. Prophets are sent to condemn the wrongdoings of a society, tackle the challenges it faces and, in turn, provoke a positive change in the beliefs and behaviours of individuals and communities.
