The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) is made up of a religiously, culturally, and linguistically diverse community of staff and students from around the world.

IIS is governed by the Board of Trustees, the Board of Governors and formal committees that oversee academic and administrative matters. Our boards are guided by the principles of mutual trust, respect, responsibility, inclusion, and belonging.

Our vision and strategy

The IIS Strategic Plan (2025-2035) sets out our commitment to advancing Islamic and Ismaili scholarship while deepening our service to the global Ismaili community.

Our people

Our staff includes over 120 researchers and lecturers in Islamic studies, librarians, cataloguers, educationalists and professional support personnel.

Our alumni

The IIS Alumni Association was established in 2005 following the  25th anniversary of The Institute of Ismaili Studies to maintain a mutually beneficial relationship between the IIS and our alumni.
