Graduate Studies

The Institute of Ismaili Studies currently offers two graduate programmes which attract students from world-wide Ismaili communities: the Graduate Programme in Islamic Studies and Humanities (GPISH) and the Secondary Teacher Education Programme (STEP).  The IIS also offers a Doctoral Scholarship Programme and other preparatory programmes for current and prospective students in different parts of the world. Secondary Teacher Education Programme

The Secondary Teacher Education Programme (STEP) is for practising and prospective teachers wishing to embark on a career in teaching within the wider Aga Khan network of institutions, with a particular focus on teaching the Institute of Ismaili Studies’ Secondary Curriculum at the Ismaili Religious Education Centres (RECs) to students aged 11-16.

The Graduate Programme in Islamic Studies and Humanities (GPISH) encourages a perspective which is not confined to the theological and religious heritage of Islam, but seeks to explore the relationship of religious ideas to broader dimensions of society and culture.
