The Institute of Ismaili Studies is excited to announce our foray into ecommerce with a new online bookshop. The IIS Shop is now available to users in the United Kingdom to purchase digital versions of some of our eminently readable materials.

New digital formats

Books from two of our popular series are now available to download as eBooks (either ePub or PDF) or audiobooks. Our eBooks are perfect for reading on your computer, tablet, phone, or eReader. But which format is best for you?

ePUBs are formatted for eReaders such as the Ratuken Kobo or the Amazon Kindle but you can also find eReader apps for your computer and phone. With an ePUB, you can easily navigate through the table of contents, resize text for your screen and comfort, highlight, bookmark, and even define words as you read.

PDFs can be read in PDF software such as Adobe Acrobat, on your web browser, or in dedicated note-taking apps like Evernote and Notability. This format is best for those who want to read on a larger screen or take notes directly on the page as they read along.

Audiobooks. Our audiobooks are formatted as a zipped folder with MP3 audio files. Once the file is unpacked, you can listen to the audiobook, chapter by chapter, on your computer or laptop. Depending on your device, you may also be able to transfer the files to your phone or MP3 player to listen on the go.

World of Islam and Living Ismaili Traditions Series

In our ongoing effort to promote modern and accessible scholarship in Islamic studies, IIS has created two series of shorter, eminently readable publications: World of Islam (published by IB Taurus) and Living Ismaili Traditions.

World of Islam seeks to demystify staples of Islamic history and practice. With an emphasis on shared heritage, these books provide a detailed overview of their respective topics. While grounded in research, the World of Islam series also encourages modern perspectives and urges readers to explore further. Titles available for purchase include:

Living Ismaili Traditions provides an overview of the diversity of the Ismaili community and the richness of its heritage. In each book, the author shares their personal journey of discovery around an aspect of Ismaili faith and practice. Replete with citations to explore further, these books also offer an avenue for sharing communal and familial experiences. Titles available for purchase include:
