Dr Daryoush Mohammad Poor and Rafiq Ajani have been appointed as visiting faculty in the Department of Educational Development at the Aga Khan University (AKU) in Karachi, Pakistan. Appointed by the Dean of the Medical College, Pakistan, Dr Adil Haider, our scholars will facilitate learning virtually from the UK and via visits to Karachi over the next two years. The Constituency Studies Unit at the IIS has been working in the field of Biomedical Ethics, published a joint paper on the subject in 2023, and hope to apply their knowledge and expertise in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The Department for Educational Development (DED), Faculty of Health Sciences, aspires to emerge as a Centre of excellence in Health Professions Education in Pakistan. DED strives to achieve this by introducing philosophical underpinnings and promoting excellence in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate education through academic programmes, courses and other faculty development initiatives. The department promotes innovative curricula, technology enhanced learning, excellence in assessment, and the creating of a conducive learning environment.
