Hasan Ali Shah is the Academic Projects and Events Manager (maternity cover) at The Institute of Ismaili Studies, where he oversees administration for the Qur’anic Studies Unit and supports academic events across the Institute.
His responsibilities are divided between Qur’anic Studies Unit administration and the coordination of academic events, including conferences, guest lectures, and cross-departmental programmes.
An IIS alumnus, Hasan completed the Graduate Programme in Islamic Studies and Humanities (GPISH) in 2024 and went on to complete an MSc in Development Administration and Planning at University College London (UCL).
He has worked in international development, higher education, and project management. Before joining IIS, he worked with the Central Office for Poverty Elimination (COPE), an initiative of the Ismaili Imamat, contributing to programmes across South Asia and the Middle East. Earlier, at Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, he worked in higher education administration and event coordination, working with the Vice Chancellor’s office, faculty, and administrative teams to deliver workshops, guest lectures, webinars, and graduation ceremonies.
Hasan has also worked on grassroots and social initiatives. He co-founded the Pakistan Innovation Summit for Education (PISE), launched SehatCall, a telehealth service introduced in Gilgit-Baltistan during the COVID-19 pandemic, and led the Chief Minister’s E-Rozgaar Programme, which provided digital livelihood training to more than 150 graduates in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan.
