Biography

Joana Mano Goncalves Pereira is Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in the Quality Assurance and Enhancement team at The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS). She supports the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks, helping to strengthen evidence-informed decision-making through robust data collection, analysis, and organisational learning. Her work focuses on improving data quality, enhancing monitoring systems, and embedding adaptive learning approaches across institutional programmes.

Joana has more than six years’ experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) across the international development, humanitarian, and social impact sectors. She has managed and delivered complex, multi-country MEL projects, particularly in the fields of global health, governance, and gender equality. Her experience includes mixed-methods research, stakeholder engagement with governments, donors, and implementing partners, and translating complex evidence into practical insights for policy and programme development.

She has particular expertise in Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), alongside experience working in fragile and conflict-affected settings. Throughout her career, she has led monitoring and evaluation workstreams for large-scale programmes, contributed to strategic evaluations, facilitated learning workshops, and supported the integration of digital tools into monitoring systems to strengthen organisational learning and programme effectiveness.
