Sanan Aliyev is Digital Officer in the Department for Communications and Development. Working closely with the Digital Delivery Manager, he supports digital projects at the IIS, including content migration, redesign and development of the new IIS website and intranet networks, technical and data-driven improvements and support on back-end systems. Other responsibilities include data insights and reporting on website, social media and email campaign platforms. Working in collaboration with marketing and content teams, he helps to plan and develop digital content, alongside training and supporting colleagues across the IIS to add and edit website content and reviews. Sanan is also CRM point person, ensures compliance with copyright and data protection, and acts as brand guardian for the IIS.

Sanan has over eight years’ experience working across the charity, creative and cultural sectors in the UK and internationally. In his previous role as an Events and Communications Officer at the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) in London, Sanan worked on a wide range of digital projects including the design and development of a new website. Integrating Google analytics, HubSpot CRM and MailChimp with the website also allowed Sanan to collect, analyse and share data with colleagues. In his past roles, Sanan has also successfully applied his digital skills in designing and developing a variety of marketing materials from print to digital and video content.

Sanan holds a BA in Oriental Studies from Baku State University, which gave him the opportunity to study the culture, history and literature of Muslim civilisation with a main focus on the Middle East. He completed an MA in International Liaison and Communications from the Diplomatic Academy of London, University of Westminster. Sanan speaks four languages: English, Azerbaijani, Turkish and Russian.
