Susheel contributes to the editorial and content strategy across internal and external communications channels at IIS, with key responsibilities including marketing IIS publications, student recruitment, and stakeholder management, including donor relations.

His goals in the near term are to optimise and deliver marketing and communications campaigns under these unusual circumstances, taking advantage of new technologies and opportunities to grow the reach and impact of both teaching and research at IIS. Looking ahead, delivering a social media and content marketing strategy will be a major objective, working with colleagues in the Department of Communication and Development, and external partners in AKC and in the larger Ismaili community.

Relevant Experience

Prior to joining IIS, Susheel worked in marketing roles within academic publishing over seven years, most recently at SAGE Publishing where he managed several core social science lists, including the Research Methods textbook list, creating and delivering the online, digital and social media strategy, and providing content marketing and sales support to drive course adoptions. He’s particularly proud to have managed the social media strategy for the now market-leading Research Methods books programme, and is excited about the IIS’ potential for growth in this space.

Education

Following his academic studies in History of Art at St Andrews, UC Berkeley, and Oxford, Susheel began his publishing career interning at I.B. Tauris, with a resolve to work at the intersection of academia and the global community, and to help translate scholarship into wider public impact. Working across print and digital product portfolios at humanities, applied and social science publishers including Palgrave Macmillan, Springer Nature and SAGE, he has continued to pursue this goal, developing particular interests in data-driven marketing, and the power of analytics in service of the knowledge that we wish to connect to readers across with the world.
