In his role as Head of IT, Mark Verrier’s aim is to make IT a digital partner to the IIS, offering expertise, advice and guidance and taking the organisation through digital transformation. He also works to improve the student and staff experience, and increase the level of interaction at all levels of the Institute.

He has both commercial and internal project, programme, portfolio and service management experience across a range of private- and public-sector, not-for-profit, multi- and single-site and regulated organisations. He has been programme manager at the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Orange Telecom, DHL, Henderson Global Investors and Royal London; Head of IT at Babcock International, Dimensions, and Head of IT and CIO at the Civil Nuclear Constabulary.

Mark attended Royal Holloway College, University of London, taking a degree in Classical Studies and later a postgraduate diploma in Computer Science from the University of Kent and an MBA from the University of Liverpool.

He served with the Airborne Forces in the British Army Reserve for 13 years, rising from the ranks to Captain and undertaking an operational tour of Bosnia during the 1990s. Since 2013 Mark has also been a governor on his local secondary school governing board.
