Dr Tasnim Dharamsi is the Secondary Leadership Development and Inservice Director at IIS Department of Education. She works to design and teach leadership, mentorship and teacher education approaches that are contextually responsive, community oriented and strategically focused. Her priority objective is to collaborate with global ITREB religious education contexts to enhance strategic and curricular competencies towards the implementation of the IIS Secondary curriculum. Dr Dharamsi brings a substantive background in educational leadership, teacher education and curriculum inquiry from her professional roles at the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University (SFU), the BC Ministry of Education, ITREB Canada and various school districts. Her doctorate work, “Living within the Hermeneutic Circle: Interpreting the Curricular Inquiry of Canadian Secondary Ismaili Religious Education Teachers” has been recognised by the Canadian Association of Teacher Education. This interdisciplinary study integrates hermeneutic phenomenology, curriculum theory/practice and Islamic studies.
